School horror as ‘bullied’ Cade Poulos 13, shoots himself dead in front of classmates

STILLWATER, Okla. — 13-year-old Cade Poulos was identified the Stillwater Junior High School student who used a handgun to shoot himself Wednesday morning at about 7:50 a.m. No other students were injured or threatened, according to police. The junior high, grades 8 and 9, has canceled classes for the day after the deadly shooting inside the school.

It was superhero dress-up day at school, according to the school’s website. Students who spoke with KOCO Eyewitness News 5′s Dan Thomas said the student who died was an eighth-grader and that he’d dressed up as Two-Face from the Batman series.

Stillwater Superintendent Ann Caine said 750 to 760 students attend the junior high which does not currently have metal detectors.

A Facebook group was started around 9 a.m. Wednesday, “RIP Cade Poulos.“

According to students, the shooting happened in an area known as “the pit” where students gather before class in the mornings .Hundreds of students and staff heard the gunfire as school started for the day.

According to the school’s website, it is “Pink Out” week, five days of activities where students raise funds for cancer.

Superintendent Caine said Wednesday was “Super Hero Day,” where students came dressed in costume.
