Teen Confessed to Shooting Sleeping Mother
Teen who confessed to shooting sleeping mother and finishing her off with a bat is now accused of beating mechanic into coma two weeks ago
A Bronx teen who confessed to shooting his sleeping mother and finishing her off with a bat is now accused by a group of mechanics of beating their co-worker into a coma about two weeks ago
The repairman’s co-workers showed the Daily News video of a boy who looks like Darwin Jackson walking down the street with a baseball bat just before the Sept. 15 attack.
The youth is wearing the same distinctive hoodie that Jackson, 16, had on when he was arrested Wednesday morning for killing his mom and tossing out her body like trash.
Tihesha Savage 34 , Darwin Jackson’s mother.
“Two weeks ago, he grabbed a guy, a mechanic, and hit him with a baseball bat. He’s in a coma,” said a mechanic who knows the victim. “He was working and he caught him from behind. He just hit him once and made a hole in his head.
Police confirmed that Auto Clinica employee Jean Pierre, 39, was attacked with a bat and suffered a fractured skull. He’s in intensive care at Montefiore Medical Center.
His co-workers said they did not know the name of the assailant before the Sept. 15 attack — sparked by a dispute over a stolen bike allegedly taken by the teen.

They went to the 44th Precinct on Sept. 18 to turn in the video but were not able to meet with detectives.
The workers said they only recognized the suspect as Jackson after seeing photos of his arrest this week in the slaying of his mother, Tihesha Savage, 34.
The men brought the video to detectives on Thursday afternoon.
NYPD sources said police are now investigating whether Jackson is the culprit but he has not been charged.
Jackson’s court-assigned lawyer, Martin Galvin, said he was unaware of the mechanics’ allegations.
A security camera caught Darwin Jackson depositing the bin with the body of his mother in it on the street across from the family’s Macombs Road apartment.
“There’s been no complaint filed against him,” he said. “Hoodies are not at all uncommon. That’s just neighborhood rumors.”
Galvin would not discuss the homicide case against his client, who was arraigned on murder, manslaughter and weapons charges Thursday morning.
“He was very gratified there were a number of family members in the courtroom. They asked me to convey to him that they loved him and that meant a great deal to him,” he said.
Detectives say Jackson confessed and described how he made sure his mother was dead.
“I took my loaded gun, shot at her while she was sleeping in her bed,” the criminal complaint quotes him as saying.
“After I fired, I saw her body twitch. She tried to get up and then I started hitting her in the head with a wooden bat numerous times.”
Savage’s body was found wrapped in a Scooby-Doo blanket inside a plastic bin left across the street from the family’s Macombs Road apartment.
Neighbors said that after cops were called, Jackson came out of the building, identified the body and spit on the ground.
Jackson — whose MySpace handle is ScarfaceKiller — does not have a criminal record, but cops were called to his apartment in July 2011 after a blowup with his mother.
Investigators said she had been hassling him about hanging out with a bad crowd.
