Toni Braxton In The Hospital For Health Issues Related To Lupus
Toni Braxton wrote on her Twitter account on Friday, December 7, that she was hospitalized as a result of health issues stemming from Lupus.
“Hey guys, I’m in the hospital for health issues related to Lupus & Blood clots, I will be home soon,” she wrote. “Thanks for all the love&support! Xoxo.”
The Associated Press reports the singer/actress/reality star was hospitalized in Los Angeles. Lupus causes the immune systems to attack the body’s tissues and organs and can lead to rashes, arthritis or even kidney or heart damage.
Braxton, 45, revealed she has Lupus two years ago. The disease killed Braxton’s uncle and her brother also suffers from it. The entertainer also suffers from a narrowing of the blood vessels in her heart. Braxton revealed in a recent “20/20” interview that she was told by doctors that her Lupus diagnosis meant that her performing career would likely be diminished.
The singer filed for bankruptcy for a second time in 2010 and reported $50 million in debts. At the time she cited her heart condition as a major factor. The singer first filed for bankruptcy in 1998.
Braxton is known for hit songs like “Un-break My Heart,” “You’re Makin Me High” and “He Wasn’t Man Enough.” She competed on the seventh season of “Dancing With The Stars” with Alec Mazo as her professional partner and finished in eighth place.
She currently stars in the reality series “Braxton Family Values” on WE tv. She stars in the series along with her four sisters, Trina, Tamar, Traci and Towanda. She premiered a new single called “I Heart You” in March 2012.
