NEW JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE ALBUM SELLS A MILLION COPIES IN ONE WEEK
Justin Timberlake’s latest album The 20/20 Experience could be set to sell one million copies in the first week.
The record had projected sales of 500,000 before release – and was then projected to hit 750,000 and, most recently, sales of 950,000.
According to Billboard, industry sources projected that The 20/20 Experience could sell between 950,000 and 975,000 by the close of the tracking week – which was last night (24 March). However, they added that sources are reluctant to guess that the album could hit the million mark.
If The 20/20 Experience does sell one million copies then it would be only the 19th album to do so since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking record sales in 1991.
The last album to sell that much in its first week was Taylor Swift’s Red, which debuted at No 1 on the US Billboard charts after selling 1.2 million copies.
Either way, The 20/20 Experience looks like it could be the fastest selling album by a male artist in its first week since Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV, which debuted at No 1 in September 2011 after selling 964,000 copies.
