6 People Found Dead In Mass Murder-Suicide
Six people were found dead after an apparent mass murder-suicide, according to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office.
Greenwood County received a 911 call from the suspected gunman just before 6 p.m. Tuesday night. The suspected gunman told 911 operators that he wanted to hurt himself.
While deputies were responding to the call at the home on Callison Highway they received another 911 call from the next door neighbor saying four children had fled to her house after hearing gunshots.
Greenwood SWAT was called to the home, as it was believed it was a hostage situation.
SWAT attempted to make contact for more than an hour, then entered the home.
They found six bodies, two females, two males, and a boy and girl around the age of 10. The sheriff says one of the men is the suspected gunman.
The whole incident began as a domestic dispute between the suspected gunman and his girlfriend, which is one of the victims, according to the sheriff. While we have not been told the names of the victims or suspected gunman, we were told the alleged gunman has a prior arrest record.
Violent Crimes and The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division have been called in to assist with the investigation.
