Mister Cee Resigns From Hot 97, Addresses Audio Of Transsexual Encounters
Legendary radio personality Mister Cee made headlines this week, after audio surfaced of him soliciting a transsexual for fellatio.
Following the leak, the 47-year-old would officially resign from his post at New York’s Hot 97 radio station… and would later, come onto the air admitting to soliciting sex or participating in sexual acts with men in the past.
“[Today is] my last time being on the air on Hot 97, yours truly Mister Cee,” Cee said. “I am officially resigning from Hot 97 today. I went through a lot in the past two years and I’ve tried to rise above those situations, I have tried to move forward from these situations, and unfortunately, every time I try to move forward, it’s like I take one step forward and then two steps back, and I’m hurting the people who are closest to me, which is my Hot 97 fam.”
The following day, he tells program director Ebro his situation, in which he comes clean about rumored past encounters with transsexuals.
“I’m tired of trying to do something or be something that I’m not. I’m tired. Have I lied about getting sexual fellatio in the car from a transsexual? Yes, I have lied about that,” Cee explained. “I have been in denial about this for a very, very long time… The funny part about it is: Do I consider myself gay? No. I don’t consider myself gay. I do, I have gotten fellatio from transvestites. That’s as far as it’s went. I never had actual sexual intercourse with another man… and vice verse. That has never been done to me. I have had fellatio with a transsexual person.”
Despite the situation, Hot 97 has been supportive… and his decision to leave was his alone.
“Everybody knows I love doing this radio thing. I’ve been at Hot 97 since 1993 and I live, breathe, sleep radio,” he explained. “The last thing that I wanna do is hurt the Hot 97 family, so I have decided — not Ebro, not management, nobody, but me Mister Cee — I have decided that it’s time for me to move on and it’s time for me to take time out to take care of myself.
“There are a lot of situations where when I try to do what I think is the right thing, a setback happens, and the last thing I wanna do is hurt this station, so today is my last day on Hot 97.”
Ebro later invited Cee to stay, but he says he’ll have to think on it before making a decision.
Mister Cee built his legacy in the 1980s as Big Daddy Kane’s deejay. Later, in the 1990s, he was one of people credited with discovering the late Notorious B.I.G., and was even credited as executive producer on Biggie’s debut album, 1994’s Ready to Die.
